Description
I took this photograph from the eastern shore of Lake Catemaco, the most ancient and second largest lake in Mexico. The lake and surrounds were the cradle of the Olmec civilization, which left behind those incredible giant stone heads that are sometimes compared to those of Easter Island. The volcanic mountain range on the other side of the Lake are called The Tuxtlas, and some amateur archeologists like me believe they hold many secret relics from the past. The pueblo of Catemaco on the south shore of the lake is known throughout the world as a place of the "witches", the spiritual healers (brujas) of Mexico. Every year there is a gathering of spiritual healing with healers who come from every country to share their energy and healing techniques. On the southwestern shore there are many spiritual and healing retreats, ranging from traditional Mexican clay baths and massage, to Yoga.
