Description
"La Catrina" has become the most popular icon of the annual Days of the Dead celebration (November 1 & 2) held in Mexico and in Mexican communities worldwide. The Originalimage was crated by a Mexican printmaker and political cartoonist during the Revolution. Catrina is a skeleton wearing a fancy French hat decorated by ostrich feathers, a comment (at the time) on poor women in the pueblos who tried to look European and deny their indigenous roots.
