The sculptures exhibited in “Procession: Time of Giants” are presented as an allegory that addresses crucial issues such as self-awareness, the relationship with nature, the importance of culture and the vital journey of humanity from its beginnings to the future
Alberto Aragón Reyes Born in the city of Oaxaca in 1980, he attended the city’s School of Fine Arts during his youth, but chose to learn the elements that make up the visual arts on his own. To do so, he went to the master stonemasons of Etla, where he gained knowledge about sculpture. He also practiced artistic drawing and color theory. Once his talent as an artist became apparent, he traveled to Denmark where he was welcomed into the studio of Jens Galshiot, who saw in Alberto Aragón’s work the expressiveness and character of an authentic artist. This latter aspect was reflected in his collaboration in the important sculptural group “Tin Soldier, The Little Mermaid, Clumsy Hans” at the Hans Christian Andersen Hotel in the city of Odense, Denmark. He is also the author of the “Monument of Duality” located in the European city of Svendborg and the “8 Deer Jaguar Claw” monument acquired as an emblematic symbol by the municipality of Tututepec, in the coastal region of Oaxaca.
In Europe he is familiar with the paintings of Rembrandt, Goya, Caravaggio, Kurt Trampedach and Odd Nerdrum, characters who, along with the Oaxacan masters Rufino Tamayo, Francisco Toledo and Alejandro Santiago, are fundamental in his self-taught training. In Denmark he is invited to carry out artistic projects aimed at the defense of humanism. In the Palestinian region he collaborates in the creation of a series of murals belonging to the project “Defacing the Wall”. He has also participated in sculpture symposiums in the Czech Republic, Denmark and recently in the Art Basel 2017 edition in Miami, United States with the monumental projects "The Witnesses" and "The Fisherman".
His pictorial work is part of important collections, such as: Galeria Galschiot, Figueroa Hernández collection, NIVADA® collection, Hemmelige Galleri collection and Kunstgalleriet collection. His monumental work is a hallmark of the cities of Odense Svendborg in Denmark and the towns of Nectiny in the Czech Republic and Tututepec, Oaxaca in Mexico.
