Description
Catemaco is a small lakeside town in Veracruz, Mexico, not far from the Gulf of Mexico. The lake is circular, very ancient, and the second largest in Mexico. It is the cradle of the mysterious Olmec culture, mysterious because this most ancient culture in Mexico has no known origin point. No one knows where the people came from, but they built important cities, created beautiful art (including the giant stone heads) and wielded much power. Before they disappeared, many of them had migrated west, spreading elements of their culture and genetic attributes. As a region on the route of the explorers and visitors from the Caribbean, the Veracruz accent is very similar to the Cuban accent, which is very beautiful and almost impossible to understand.
