This is the magnificent, purely Mexican facade of the church in Santa Ana Zegache, designed and painted by the beloved local artist Rodolfo Morales who died in 2004. I took this photo no more than 10 years after he finished it, and the heat, sun and torrential downpours had aged the surfaces somewhat. I don't know if anyone had taken over the ongoing restoration. The women of the village are there every day taking care of every aspect of the grounds and interior details, but I'm sure by now it would have needed an update. I'm going back for a visit sometime next year, and I'll find out.
