Description
I spent most of an afternoon with this girl and two of her friends. All three of them were serious, as you can see in the photo. There were a few flickers of a smile, between attempts to get me to buy stuff. This is where our Mexican driver "bought" a teenage girl to take her back to the big city of San Cristobal to take care of his young children and keep house. Indigenous girls are often bought from desperately poor parents to lead this life of lifelong servitude. Nothing to smile about.
