Description
The original La Calavera Catrina is a 1910–1913 zinc etching by the Mexican printmaker, cartoon illustrator and lithographer José Guadalupe Posada. It was originally meant to mock the indigenous women in Mexico who wore fancy European hats to improve their status. She has become an icon of the Mexican Día de Muertos, or Day of the Dead.
