Eva, I love all the elements, the blues, the interior of the pieces overlapping against the drama of black and the challenges you describe. Something rich to return to frequently.

Artist's Description

Art of the Square
The symmetry of a square creates a compositional challenge for the artist because the rules of placement, dividing the space into thirds, don't apply in the same way as they do in the rectangle. The basic rules of placement don’t apply in the same way they do to the rectangle. The tension this creates demands developing a different kind of eye, of balance or imbalance.

About Lorena Cassady

Lorena Cassady

I am a multi-media artist and craftswoman. My training includes coursework in sculpture at the Corcoran School in Washington, DC and at the Rufino Tamayo Taller in Oaxaca, Mexico, where I lived for 14 years until 2021. I've worked extensively in many genres including paper and digital collage, acrylic and oil painting, needle felting, paper mache, colored pencil, watercolor and line drawing. My experience in the active artistic community of Oaxaca was richly rewarding.
