Asherah, "She Who Walks on the Sea" was an ancient Semitic goddess of fertility, related to the worship of trees. Her cult was a major rival to male-dominated Yahweh worship, and many stone "Asherah poles" were erected and venerated. This resulted in strong condemnations of this practice and depictions of these poles being cut down and burned. The goddess was popular in pagan deviations in Israel.
I am a multi-media artist and craftswoman. My training includes coursework in sculpture at the Corcoran School in Washington, DC and at the Rufino Tamayo Taller in Oaxaca, Mexico, where I lived for 14 years until 2021. I've worked extensively in many genres including paper and digital collage, acrylic and oil painting, needle felting, paper mache, colored pencil, watercolor and line drawing.
